About Maura

Maura recovered from chronic pain through mindbody medicine after a life‑changing concussion in 2019. Although her acute injuries healed, she continued to experience chronic symptoms including hyperacusis, tinnitus, hives, and anxiety driven by a deep fear of sound. In 2020, Maura began working with Dr. Marcia Dewey, who sparked her interest in the connection between the brain and body as a pathway to healing. Dr. Dewey introduced Maura to a range of helpful tools, including the Curable app, which opened the door to multiple resources that were instrumental in Maura’s long-term recovery (including Alan Gordon’s book The Way Out and Dr. Howard Schubiner’s Unlearn Your Pain Workbook).

After recently completing a thirty‑year career as a corporate executive, Maura is now focused on publishing her memoir, which chronicles her journey of resilience and the practical mindbody strategies that helped her overcome chronic symptoms. She is committed to raising awareness of mindbody medicine and offering hope to those living with chronic pain. Maura is currently pursuing certification as a mindbody coach.

Maura lives just outside Milwaukee, WI with her family and is most joyful when she is running, meditating, doing yoga, drinking tea, sitting by the lake or ocean, watching the sunrise, walking in nature, socializing with friends and family, or enjoying live music.
